hey,
last year my almost stock b16a3 delol ran 15.5 @ 89mph on the 1/4 mile, just last week i went to the track and ran 14.23 @99.5mph that was with icing the intake manifold and barrowing my friend's aem short ram intake, i felt that the car could of been in the high 13.999999sec, friends were teaching me how to powershift-hehehe, i have to just practice more.
i am a bit disspointed that i spent so much money, well over 3K on the JRSC+header custom exhuast+guages+ect...just to be 1 sec faster
i dont know where i want to go now, i want to be in the mid 13s but have no idea what to do. i can buy AEM EMS but i dont think that will pay off well-meaning that it wont bring my ET down to 13.5sec, for 1.4K$ anda few tenths of my ET is not worth it.
i was thinkign about builing up my internals for a 8-9psi JIM type pulley , but i dont know what kinda internal work should be done.
please advise.
thanks

Sol,
I wouldn't fret too much. Numbers aren't everything...
To start, the jrsc did a lot more then just lower 1/4 acceleration times...it changed the character of the car. The car is now much more livable with a more mature powerband IMO. Also, it increased the uniqueness of your vehicle and the fun to drive factor. These are all benefits which should be accounted for in some way.
As for raw numbers...the 1/4 game is tricky. I would say that you would definitely gain from a standalone unit (like hondata) since there is likely still some untapped power. however, for now, its just practice, tire pressure, launch speed, humidity, etc. But to still be running 6psi and be not only 1sec faster, but 1.3 secs faster is about average if i am not mistaken. For example, my gsr ran a 14.9 before the charger...with it, i would expect to drop to 13.8 or so...
just my $0.02

what jabroni said are very good points. also, IMO, if you plan on upping the boost to 8psi, the upgrading of internals is not necessary as long as your compression is stock, etc. you may also want to consider intercooling your setup, since there is finally one out for the JRSC. also you would benefit a lot from a stand alone if all you are using now is the stock JR fueling setup. even the AFC hack or SMC+ would be a cheap way to gain power if a stand alone is out of budget. either way, the JRSC has a lot of potential. you just have to find it and use it.

What type of tires are you rolling on? 205 width? drag radials? slicks? Full interior? any ice? Did you try and play with various tire pressures? What is your suspension setup like? What were your 60 fts? What kind of header do you have? 2.5" Kami? Do you have a free flowing cat? Maybe a testpipe is in order. What was the temp outside? Where is your track located? All of these play factors in the 1/4. Try autocrossing your car. I've been doing that with my slightly stock Si(I,H,T.P.,E)It's a hell of alot more fun than drag racing. Use that double wishbone suspension for what it was meant for. You could also look into weight reduction. CF hood? lightweight seats? I would say that's pretty damn good for 6psi, probably not tuned to it's full potential yet.

What you need to spend some money on is a set of slicks!!...with a trap of 99mph you should be able to get into the 13's easily with a set of good slicks
PS ...what did your time slip look like last time you were at the track?...if you can post the numbers

the fact is, you got 40% more power, and 40% more power, on a 125 wheel hp b16. so basically you are running 185-195 hp to the wheels for a 6psi setup. The times aint bad in my opinion. Also, you cant expect to drive a boosted car great at the track the first few times around. It took me 2 years to get my FWD dsm down to really good consistant launches. (granted I only went about 7 times during that period, and had crap tires). Your next setup should be injectors and a 8-9psi pully, and a good set of sticky tires. with that setup, you should be looking at 200+ hp, and enough for your 13's.

indeed , getting traction the first 100ft or so is key . hard motor mounts , traction bars , and slicks will help quite a bit . ditch large rims if have them . also practice practice practice .

last season JRSC
r/t 1.166 1.02
60' 2.361 2.282
330 6.609 6.113
1/8 10.065 9.254
mph 71.20 78.49
1000 13.038 11.949

Get rid of those bling bling 17's and get some 15's back on there, thats atleast .2 right there!
Oh and those Nittos blow as much as they suck for traction at the track even though that 60' aint too shabby.
The 6psi cars(B16 and B18C) are high 13/low 14 second cars unless you slap some slicks on or DR's in my opinion. I pulled 13.5 on slicks at 6psi, and had a best of 14.1 on street tires with some decent practice, albeit that was on the stock michelines.
Ive got some 15's ill sell ya SUPER CHEAP, they are about 13 pounds a piece.
